How Sown works

From your YouTube channel to a site your church uses all week. We set it up with you, and your team decides what is published.

Steps

  1. Talk with us

We start with a short call about your church, how you preach and how your people might use Sown. If it’s a good fit, we create your church’s account together.

  2. Connect your YouTube channel

Sown reads your channel’s public videos and playlists. Playlists become series. You choose which playlists hold sermons and whether to include one-off uploads. Videos under 15 minutes are skipped unless you change that.

  3. Sown prepares your sermons

We start with your most recent year of sermons. For each one, Sown gathers the YouTube captions, drafts notes, Scripture references, topics and a discussion guide, and makes the transcript searchable for your people and for Selah.

  4. Your team reviews and publishes

Read each draft, edit anything, and publish when you’re happy. Hide any sermon you’d rather not share. If you prefer, notes can publish automatically.

  5. Your site goes live

Your site gets your logo and colours, at an address like yourchurch.joinsown.com or, on Growth and Multisite, on your own domain. Share the link with your church.

  6. Every week after

New sermons are picked up automatically after you post them. Captions on a livestream can take a little while to appear; Sown waits for them, then drafts the notes for your review.
