Everything a sermon can be, after Sunday

Sown gives every sermon a home on your church’s own site, where people can read it, search it, study it and ask questions of it. Your team reviews everything first.

Sermon notes

Clear notes for every sermon, drafted by Sown and approved by your team.

Each sermon gets a summary, its main idea, the key points with the minute each one was made, the Scripture it draws on, a practical application and questions for reflection.

  • Nothing is public until your team publishes it.
  • Edit any part of the notes. Your edits are kept if a sermon is processed again.
  • A key quote is only used if it matches the transcript word for word.

23:41

Good soil hears, understands and endures.

Fruit grows slowly, through patient listening and obedience.

Matthew 13:23 and Luke 8:15

Example of a key point in the notes. Illustrative sermon.

Searchable transcripts

The whole sermon in text, every line linked to the moment it was said.

Transcripts come from your YouTube captions. People can read along, search for the line they half remember, and jump straight to it in the video.

  • Search finds passages by meaning, across every sermon at once, so a topic or a half-remembered line is enough.
  • Every line has a timestamp that opens the video at that moment.
  • YouTube’s automatic captions work fine.
  1. 23:28So what does good soil look like? Jesus gives us three marks.
  2. 23:41It hears the word, it understands it, and it holds on to it.
  3. 23:52Not for a week. Not for a season. Over a lifetime.
Example transcript lines. Each timestamp opens the video at that moment.

Scripture index

Every passage your church has preached on, by book and chapter.

The Scripture references in each sermon build an index of your preaching. A small-group leader studying a passage can see every time your church has preached on it.

  • Browse by book, then chapter.
  • Each sermon lists the passages it draws on.
  • Useful for planning: see which books you haven’t preached in a while.

Matthew 13

  • The farmer, the seed and the soil13:1–23
  • Weeds among the wheat13:24–30
  • Hidden treasure13:44–46
Example index entry. Illustrative sermon titles.

Discussion guides

A small-group guide for every sermon, ready to print or copy.

Each guide pulls together the sermon’s main idea, its application and its reflection questions, so leaders can spend their time preparing to listen, not formatting a handout.

  • Print it, or copy it into an email or group chat.
  • Built from the same notes your team reviewed.

Discussion guide

The farmer, the seed and the soil

God’s word bears fruit in hearts that hear it, understand it and hold on to it.

  1. Which of the four soils do you recognize in yourself right now?
  2. What most often crowds out what you hear on Sunday?

Test everything against Scripture.

Example guide. Illustrative sermon.

Topics and series

Find sermons by theme, or follow a series from the first week to the last.

Topics are tagged on every sermon, and your team can change them. Series come straight from your YouTube playlists, in playlist order, so they always match how you organized them.

  • Series are never guessed: your playlists decide.
  • Topic pages gather everything your church has preached on a theme.

Topics

  • Prayer
  • Anxiety
  • Generosity
  • Forgiveness
  • Hope
  • Work

Series

  • Parables
  • Advent
  • Romans

Selah, your sermon assistant

Questions in plain language, answered from your church’s own preaching.

Members and visitors can ask what your church has taught about prayer, suffering, a passage or a hard week. Selah answers from your sermons first and cites the sermon and the minute, so anyone can listen to the original.

  • Choose how Selah handles questions your sermons don’t cover: answer from your sermons only, or add clearly labelled general background.
  • Set the starter questions people see first.
  • Give it your own name and pick its icon, or keep Selah.
  • Every answer carries a visible note that it was written by AI.
  • If someone is in crisis, Selah shares crisis lines and your church’s care contact.
  • Questions are never stored on Sown’s servers. A conversation is kept only in the asker’s own browser, where they can clear it.

How Selah stays grounded and careful

Your church’s own site

Your name, logo and colours, on an address your people will remember.

Your sermons live on a site that looks like your church, at an address like yourchurch.joinsown.com or, on Growth and Multisite, on your own domain. There’s nothing for your people to sign up for.

  • No member logins, no ads, and no tracking of what anyone asks.
  • Built for phones first, and just as good on a laptop.
  • Designed to meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility guidelines.
  • Links to a plain-language privacy and AI notice.

Tools for your team

A simple dashboard for the people who look after your sermons.

Your staff sign in to review and publish notes, make edits and choose what appears on your site. Your church members never need an account.

  • Review drafts and publish when you’re ready, or let notes publish automatically.
  • Edit titles, summaries, notes, topics and the preacher’s name.
  • Hide any sermon at any time.
  • Choose which playlists hold sermons, and skip short videos.
  • Invite your team as owners, admins or editors.
  • Set your church’s care contact for Selah.
